A Safety Certificate, previously known as ‘Roadworthy Inspection,' is a document issued after your vehicle passes a safety standards inspection. The inspection covers a number of vehicle parts and systems that are integral to the safety of the driver, passengers and other road users, such as;

• Brakes
• Steering
• Suspension
• Car Body
• Windscreen
• Lights

Queensland law requires that you have a current safety certificate for any vehicle that you are selling or planning to re-register. The certificate must be displayed in an obvious place on/in the vehicle from the moment you offer it for sale.

Certificates are valid for 2 months or 2000 kms, whichever comes first, after which you must get a new safety certificate if you wish to continue offering it for sale (for registered motor dealers the validity period is 3 months or 1000 kms).
